Twenty years ago, back in the autumn of 1997, saw the release of a very special recording: City of Gold. The idea for a project exploring ideas, thoughts and meditations on the subject of heaven was birthed during a late night conversation (in a rather nice hotel bar!) between Phil Baggaley, Adrian Plass and me, following the final concert on the last night of a tour. We talked into the early hours of the morning, discussing the possibility of a project featuring poems, readings and music that would explore the great unknown, yet often discussed subject of heaven and our onward journey after this life is over. Adrian’s poems and prose, readings from Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, along with the beautiful songs and instrumental music, all combined together to create a truly original and much loved album. The excellent singing of Mal Pope and Julie Costello, the musical contributions from Mark Edwards, David Fitzgerald and the band, along with Phil and Neil Costello’s production, has created a true masterpiece. This recording continues to touch the hearts of countless thousands of people across the world.
To celebrate the anniversary of its release, Little Room Recordings has released a Limited Edition 20th Anniversary version with a ten page full colour lyric booklet including all the lyrics, poems, prose and artwork from the original book release which accompanied the CD. Fittingly, the music is presented on a gold disk to mark the occasion.
Some of the personal reviews on the USA Amazon website are very touching, and it is a privilege to know that our music, poetry and prose means so much to so many people, and comforts them in times of grief and loss. There are five pages of reviews under the www.amazon.com comments section, and it makes very moving reading indeed.
The CD is available from the Little Room Store and can be sent anywhere worldwide.
The price also includes a free digital download of either City of Gold or any other album of your choice from www.littleroom.com
