I have finally finished work on The Tree In The Wood! It has been a long journey, though very much worth it. If you would like to hear some of your favourite traditional folk songs re-imagined, with a couple of surprises included for good measure, I think you will enjoy this album. Charlotte sings beautifully, and brings the words and melodies to life. One of the surprises is a song which I have always thought would become a traditional folk song, but felt has never been interpreted the way it should be. ‘Wouldn’t It Be Lovely’ is from the musical ‘My Fair Lady’; I have always loved the heartfelt lyrics and message.
The other favourites we chose to record include classics such as ‘Blow The Wind Southerly’, ‘Scarborough Fair’ and the beautiful Irish folk song ‘Down By The Salley Gardens’. If you would like more information you can find it on the project page at the Little Room Recordings site.
